The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art provides students with an intensive course of study that combines professional studio training with a strong liberal arts foundation. Through sustained studio practice, individualized faculty mentorship, and opportunities for creative exploration, students develop advanced technical skills, a distinct artistic perspective, and the professional competencies needed for careers in the visual arts, graduate study, and creative fields.
The B.F.A. curriculum emphasizes the development of a comprehensive body of work through progressive studio experiences, critical analysis, portfolio development, and independent creative practice. Students engage with the history, theory, and contemporary practices of art while refining their skills and preparing for professional opportunities in the arts.
To earn the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art, students complete 127 credits.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of a degree in Art, students will:
- Demonstrate technical proficiency and creative problem-solving within their chosen artistic discipline.
- Apply principles of visual literacy, design, and art history to create original works of art.
- Analyze and communicate artistic concepts, processes, and historical influences through written, oral, and visual presentations.
