Graduate programs within the Department of Education and Teacher Preparation will not enroll new students during the 2026–2027 academic year due to a planned program hiatus.

The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation prepares knowledgeable, reflective, and ethical educators who inspire learning and serve diverse communities. Rooted in the liberal arts and the Dominican tradition of the search for truth, the department equips educators with the advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and professional dispositions needed to improve teaching, learning, and educational outcomes.

Accreditation & Professional Recognition

• The Advanced Literacy Specialist Program (AAP) is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). CAEP promotes excellence in educator preparation through content and pedagogy, clinical partnerships and practice, candidate recruitment, progression, and support, program impact, and quality assurance and continuous improvement. Albertus Magnus College's accreditation is effective Fall 2022 - Fall 2029. • Programs are designed to support graduates in meeting applicable professional licensure and certification requirements where appropriate. Students should consult individual program pages regarding state-specific requirements.

Experiential Learning

Graduate students connect theory to professional practice through applied projects, clinical experiences, field-based learning, and action research conducted within educational settings.
