Health Sciences, A.S.

The Associate of Science in Health Sciences is a two-year, 60-credit program designed to provide foundational knowledge in the biological and health sciences, combined with practical technical training in patient care. The program integrates general education coursework, health science core courses, and professional credentialing opportunities to equip students with both academic and applied skills.

Upon completing the program of study in Health Sciences, students will:

Demonstrate an understanding of core biological, chemical, and health science principles.
Apply patient care skills in clinical and laboratory settings consistent with CNA, EKG, and Phlebotomy certifications.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Analyze ethical, social, and cultural issues in healthcare delivery.
Demonstrate readiness for advanced study in nursing and other health-related bachelor’s programs.
Exhibit professional responsibility and leadership consistent with the Albertus mission.
Earn industry-recognized certifications (CNA, EKG Technician, Phlebotomy Technician).
Be prepared for entry-level employment in healthcare support roles.
Have completed the prerequisites for admission to the Albertus LPN-to-BSN program and made significant progress toward other bachelor’s degrees in health fields.

To satisfy the requirements of the Associate of Science in Health Sciencest degree, students need to complete 60 hours of coursework that include 30 credits in general education requirements; 28 credits in health sciences and correlatives; and 2 elective credits.

Students must complete a minimum of 21 credits as matriculating students at the College. These 21 credits must be the last credits toward the degree.

Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all work attempted at the College.
