The Associate of Science in Health Sciences provides students with a foundation in biological and health sciences while developing practical skills for patient care and healthcare support roles. Through coursework in general education, health sciences, and clinical preparation, students develop the scientific knowledge, technical skills, communication abilities, and ethical understanding needed to succeed in healthcare settings.
The program prepares graduates for entry-level employment in healthcare support roles or continued study in nursing and other health-related bachelor’s degree programs. Through academic coursework and professional credentialing opportunities, students gain practical experience aligned with certifications in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician. Graduates who continue their education at Albertus are prepared to pursue additional study in nursing and other health professions, including the LPN-to-BSN pathway.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of a degree in Health Sciences, students will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of foundational concepts in biological, chemical, and health sciences.
- Apply patient care skills and healthcare practices consistent with professional standards and industry-recognized certifications, including CNA, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and diverse populations.
- Analyze ethical, social, and cultural issues affecting healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to healthcare-related situations.
- Demonstrate professional responsibility, collaboration, and leadership consistent with the mission of Albertus Magnus College.
- Demonstrate readiness for advanced study in nursing and other health-related bachelor’s degree programs.
