Auditing a course allows individuals to attend classes for personal enrichment or academic exploration without earning academic credit. Individuals interested in auditing a course should contact the Office of the Registrar for information about course availability, eligibility, and registration procedures.

Requirements and Conditions:

  • Auditing is permitted on a space-available basis.
  • Not all courses are available for audit. Requests are reviewed by the Office of the Registrar in consultation with the appropriate academic department.
  • Registration for an audit may be completed no earlier than three weeks before the start of classes and no later than the first day of the term.
  • Auditors may register for a maximum of one course per term and may audit a course only once.
  • Auditors may register for a maximum of 12 credits in audit status.
  • Academic credit is not awarded for audited courses.
  • Audited courses appear on the student's transcript with a grade of AUD.
  • Individuals who wish to change from audit status to credit-bearing status must do so by the end of the add/drop period.
  • Auditors who do not attend class for 14 consecutive calendar days may be administratively withdrawn.
  • Tuition for audited courses is charged at one-half the regular tuition rate and is due by the first day of class. Courses may be dropped for nonpayment. Refer to the tuition and fee schedule and refund policy for additional information.

Important: Individuals who intend to enroll as degree-seeking students at Albertus Magnus College should not register for courses as auditors. Credits are not awarded for audited courses, and some academic policies may restrict later enrollment in a course that was previously audited.
