Associate’s Degree

Associate’s degree candidates must complete the general college requirements, the requirements for the degree, at least half of their credits at Albertus Magnus College and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90.

Bachelor’s Degree

Bachelor’s degree candidates must complete the general college requirements, the requirements for the degree, at least 56 institutional credits at Albertus Magnus College and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. Bachelor’s degree candidates may graduate with Honors at one of three levels:

  • Cum Laude: Honor bestowed on students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.50 to 3.69.
  • Magna Cum Laude: Honor bestowed on students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.70 to 3.89.
  • Summa Cum Laude: Honor bestowed on students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.90 or above.

Class Marshal Designation

Class marshals are selected from among bachelor’s degree candidates in the traditional undergraduate and accelerated adult undergraduate programs who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement. To be eligible for designation as a class marshal, students must:

  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 4.00;
  • Complete a minimum of 56 institutional credits at Albertus Magnus College; and
  • Have all degree requirements fully completed prior to commencement.

Students with any outstanding coursework, including incompletes, courses in continuation status, or unmet degree requirements, are not eligible for consideration.

Eligibility is determined solely on the basis of the official academic record as of the date grades are finalized for the term preceding commencement. This determination is final. Changes to the academic record after this date, including grade updates, late submissions, or degree conferral adjustments, will not be considered for class marshal eligibility.

Master’s Degree

Master’s degree candidates in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Clinical Counseling, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Science in Clinical Counseling and the Master of Science in Education programs who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90 or above and a grade of “A” in all components of the final project/capstone course/thesis are awarded honors and will have the notation included on their transcript and diploma.

Master’s degree candidates in the Master of Science in Human Services program who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90 or above and a grade of “A-” in all components of the final project/capstone course/thesis are awarded honors and will have the notation included on their transcript and diploma.

Master’s degree candidates in the Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Criminal Justice, Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, Master of Science in Instructional Design and Learning Technology and the Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership programs who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90 are awarded honors and will have the notation included on their transcript and diploma.
