Transfer Credits Allowed After Matriculation

Matriculated undergraduate students who wish to complete coursework at another accredited institution and transfer the credit toward an Albertus Magnus College degree must obtain prior approval from the Office of the Registrar before enrolling in the course(s). Prior approval helps ensure that the coursework is transferable and applicable to the student's degree requirements.
Students seeking approval must submit a Transfer Course Approval Request form and provide any required supporting documentation, including course descriptions or syllabi, if requested. Approval is based on factors including institutional accreditation, course content, level, and applicability to the student's academic program. Approval to enroll in a course elsewhere does not guarantee the transfer of credit unless all transfer credit requirements are subsequently met.
A maximum of 15 credits earned after matriculation may be transferred from other institutions toward an Albertus Magnus College degree. In addition, students must complete their final 15 credits in residence at Albertus Magnus College. Coursework completed elsewhere during a student's final 15 credits will not be accepted toward degree completion unless an exception is approved in advance by the appropriate academic and administrative offices.
To receive transfer credit, students must arrange for an official transcript from the host institution to be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar upon completion of the course. Transfer credit will be awarded only for approved coursework successfully completed with a grade that meets institutional transfer credit requirements. Transfer credits are recorded on the student's academic record but do not affect the Albertus Magnus College grade point average.
Students enrolled in, or applying to, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program must first obtain approval from the Nursing program before submitting a Transfer Course Approval Request to the Office of the Registrar. Additional restrictions or requirements may apply based on nursing accreditation, licensure, clinical, or program-specific standards.
