Academic Review is not intended as a punitive measure but rather as a serious warning that a student's academic progress places their continued enrollment at the College in jeopardy. Students on Academic Review are not considered to be in good academic standing. The Academic Review period provides students with an opportunity to make the academic improvements necessary to regain good standing.
Good academic standing requires a student to maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average established by the College based on credits attempted, satisfy any minimum grade point average requirements in the major, and make satisfactory progress toward degree completion.
Students may be placed on Academic Review for any of the following reasons:
- Failure to maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average required for good academic standing;
- Failure to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 in the major field of study;
- Earning failing grades (F or UF) and/or withdrawals (W, WA, or WF) in three or more courses during a single semester;
- Earning a semester grade point average below 1.70; or
- Having one or more unresolved grades of Incomplete at the conclusion of a semester.
Students who do not meet the grade point average requirements for good standing or who have one or more unresolved Incomplete grades at the conclusion of a semester will automatically be placed on Academic Review for the following semester.
At the discretion of the Dean, students on Academic Review may be required to enroll in a reduced course load and may be subject to additional academic conditions designed to support their success.
To remain in full-time status, students must enroll in 12 credits.
Students on Academic Review are expected to enroll in coursework for a letter grade. Enrollment requirements, including any reduced course load, will be determined by the Dean.
