Graduate Grading System

Albertus Magnus College evaluates graduate student performance using letter grades and quality points. Grade points are calculated by multiplying the quality-point value assigned to a grade by the number of credits earned in the course. The cumulative grade point average (GPA) is determined by dividing the total quality points earned by the total GPA credits attempted at Albertus Magnus College.

Special Grades and Notations

Grade Meaning
W Withdrawal from a course after the add/drop period and before the withdrawal deadline. Not included in the GPA but may affect financial aid eligibility.
WA Administrative Withdrawal assigned in accordance with the College's attendance policy. Not included in the GPA.
WF Withdrawal Fail. May be granted in place of a UF upon timely request. Not included in the GPA but may affect financial aid eligibility and academic standing.
I Incomplete. Assigned when a student with a passing grade and at least 60% of coursework completed is unable to finish course requirements due to extenuating circumstances. All remaining work must be completed within 30 days of the last class meeting or the grade converts to an F.
I/P In Progress. Assigned for approved internships, practica, student teaching, theses, capstones, or similar experiences that extend beyond a single term.
P Pass. Indicates satisfactory completion of a course for which letter grades are not assigned.
P/O Pass Option. Indicates satisfactory completion of a course taken under an approved pass/fail option.
AUD Audit. Indicates enrollment in a course without receiving academic credit.

Graduate students must earn a grade of C (2.0) or higher in each course to satisfy degree requirements. Any course completed with a grade below C (2.0) must be repeated. Students who earn three or more grades of C (2.0) or below during their program will be dismissed from the program. In addition, students are not eligible for degree conferral if they have earned more than two grades of C (2.0) during their graduate program.
