Good academic standing indicates that a student is making satisfactory academic progress toward degree completion and is eligible to continue enrollment without academic restriction.

A student is considered to be in good academic standing when the student:

  • Maintains the minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) based on credits attempted, as shown below;
  • Meets any minimum GPA requirements established for the student's academic program or major; and
Credits Attempted Minimum Cumulative Average
0-18 1.50
19-30 1.70
31 or more 2.00

Students whose cumulative GPA falls below the applicable minimum are no longer considered to be in good academic standing and will be subject to the College's Academic Standing policies, including Academic Review and, when applicable, Academic Dismissal.

Students enrolled in programs with additional academic or professional standards, such as the Nursing and Education programs, must also comply with the progression, retention, and good standing requirements established by their academic program. Where program-specific requirements are more stringent than College policy, the program requirements will apply.
